As they scored their second consecutive win in the competition edging the F.Y.R. of Macedonia in straight sets, the players of Croatia’s national team could make sure they will progress their campaign in the 2014 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship at least via the second stage of the qualification process slated for early October. On Sunday Croatia will play the hosts of Montenegro – who also scored their second win by besting Bosnia and Herzegovina 3:1.

On Saturday Croatia’s head coach Igor Lavrinov decided to rest some of his best players – Sanja Popovic and Senna Usic Jogunica – so that they will be fresh and full of energy for the deciding clash with Montenegro. The second match of the day was much more contested; Montenegro had a margin of three-four points for most of the time in the first set but Bosnia and Herzegovina fought back to seize it at 25-23. The game followed a similar plot in the second set but this time the local heroines were not surprised and could go for the 1:1. Montenegro played well to move to the front and with excellent team work could finish it off for a 3:1 win that guarantees – at least – a ticket to the second round coming up in October.
