Australia and South Korea finished top and qualified for Men’s World Championship

The Australian men's volleyball team placed first and booked the ticket to the 2014 FIVB World Championship at the Pool A of the Asian Men’s final qualification round for the World Championships after beating their last rivals Thailand here on Sunday.

At the end of the three-day tournament, Australia clinched a perfect record. Australia opened the tournament with a straight sets win over Kuwait, then came from a set down and deficits in two sets to beat Kazakhstan in four, and then wrapped up the weekend with a straight sets win over Thailand, 25-23, 25-13, 25-23, dropping just one set for the entire weekend on the way to booking their place at next year’s World Championships in Poland.

Earlier today Kazakhstan wrapped up their tournament with a straight-sets win over Kuwait.

In Pool D, South Korea beat Japan on their court in straight set 3:0 (25:20, 25:20, 25:23) and qualified for World Championship next year.
