ANCH W: Kenya claim historic 8th crown

African powerhouses and host Kenya added a new title to their cupboard of achievements after their straight sets win (25-17, 25-20, 25-23) against Tunisia in the fifth and final day of the 2013 Women's African nations Championship held at Kasarani Moi International Sports Center in Nairobi, Kenya on Thursday.

With the win, the African queens improved their continental record to 8 titles in 16 editions with 5 crowns more than the Egypt and Tunisia (3 crowns each).

At the end of the competition Kenya led the 6 nation tournament with the full record 5-0 (15 points), followed by Cameroon who secured the silver medal after the beat Algeria 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-23) to finish with 4-1 record (10 points).

Tunisia gained the bronze medal with win- loss ratio of 3-2 (9 points), while Senegal concluded in the fourth position with 2-3 (5 points), Egypt fifth 1-4 (4 points) and finally Algeria at the six and last place with 0-5 (2 points).

After the end of final match CAVB first Vice president Mory Keita presented the gold medals and the cup for Kenyan team, the silver for Cameroon and the bronze for Tunisia accompanied with CAVB Vice president KVF president Waithaka Kioni, referee delegate Jouad Berrada, medical delegate Hossam Bahgat and SOC delegate Charles Nyaberi
