It was a moment to savour for the Volleyball fraternity here and the local sporting history, when the long awaited laying down of an all-weather Sport Court at the Girls’ High School, became a reality, last Saturday.
St Vincent and the Grenadines was among one of the few remaining member associations of NORCECA to have the Sport Court installed in its territory.
The donation of the Sport Court surfaces forms part of the development programme implemented by NORCECA.
Installed under the supervision of Kittian- Beville Smith, the red and blue coloured tiles covered the entire surface at the hard court.
And, in a matter of a few hours, with help from several players, the venue’s surface was given an immediate facelift.
Expressing satisfaction of the achievement was President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Volleyball Association- Alana Mc Master, as she witnessed the process.
“It will definitely boost the sport here … It is a great achievement for us … It is very much welcomed”, Mc Master remarked, as she smiled from ear to ear.
“It will help our players immensely by reducing the chances of injuries from the hard surface of the asphalt type court”, Mc Master added.
The court valued at US $ 30,000.00, is a synthetic surface comprised of interlocking grids which are laid on mainly concrete surfaces.
It is of basically no cost to the St Vincent and the Grenadines Volleyball Association, as NORCECA also bore the cost of shipping it from the manufacturers in the United States of America.
