The Volleyball Federation of Slovenia has announced the appointment of Alessandro Orefice as the new head coach for the women’s national team. Orefice, an Italian coach currently leading French team Levallois Paris Saint-Cloud, has signed a two-year contract. He replaces Marco Bonitta, taking the reins of the team.
Gregor Humerca, the General Secretary of the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia, expressed confidence in Orefice’s abilities, citing his desire, ambition, and passion. The Federation commits to providing the team with the necessary conditions for success under Orefice’s leadership.
Orefice expressed enthusiasm about his new role, highlighting the federation’s clear goals, the potential of Slovenian players, and the hardworking mentality of the region. His coaching career, which began in 2003, includes significant experience in Italian and French volleyball, with achievements like leading Pays D’Aix Venelles Volleyball and a third-place finish with Levallois Paris Saint-Cloud in the French championship.
Previously, Orefice contributed to the Estonian women’s national team as an assistant and head coach, winning the Silver European League in 2023. He plans to start training with the Slovenian team immediately after the national championships, preparing them for the upcoming Golden European League.
