Tuomas Sammelvuo, head coach of Canada’s men’s senior volleyball team, has announced his departure, citing family priorities. Last month, Sammelvuo and his wife welcomed a new baby, leading to his heartfelt decision to step down.
Reflecting on his tenure since 2022, Sammelvuo praised his players for their dedication and teamwork, highlighting achievements such as securing a spot at Paris 2024 and reaching the VNL quarterfinals. “Wins and losses fade, but relationships last forever,” he said.
Volleyball Canada has confirmed that the search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
