Once again, the home side won in straight sets, by 3:0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-19), and topped the current standings in Pool A.
With one leg to go, the Montenegrins now have 14 points, one point clear of the Romanians who have already finished all their matches, and two points clear of Greece. Poland is fourth with 8 points.
The last matches in the pool next weekend are the double-headers between Montenegro and Greece and between Azerbaijan and Poland.
Vojin Ćaćić with 18 points and Miloš Ćulafić with 15 points were the best scorers of the match. Azerbaijan’s most prolific players finished with 7 points each.
Slobodan Boškan, head coach of Montenegro: “We had some ups and downs in the game, but we entered the match with great will and responsibility, so we managed to take the maximum number of points.”
