USA’s opposite Kelly Murphy topped the scorers with 17 points, followed by team-mate Foluke Akinradewo, with 13. In the Brazilian side, the most prominent players were Thaisa Menezes, with 12 points, and Sheilla Castro, with 10.
USA coach Karch Kiraly: “It is a shame we lost this match. Brazil is a great team, played really well and we made a lot of mistakes. We cannot expect to win making so many mistakes as we did today. But it was really fun playing in Brazil. The energy is fantastic”.
Brazil coach Ze Roberto: “The USA team plays in the same level as ours, so it is very good to win. We improved a lot and the fans played a great role supporting us during the whole match”.
