Achema KKSC had a mighty league round where they won 19 games and lost only to Latvia’s team JELGAVA/LU. They had their revenge in semis defeating JELGAVA/LU by 3:0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-21) but in the final they could not keep up with the hosts.
KOHILA shocked Achema in the first set by winning it with a landslide 25-13. The second and third sets ended at 25-20 and 25-21 and so KOHILA could seize the trophy of the most important women’s Volleyball competition in the Baltic area for the second year in the row.
The league’s MVP Maarja Kerner finished the final match on 22 points, Laura Parts added 11 and both Mari-Liis Graumann and Kertu Laak scored 10 points. Achema had no players finishing the match in double figures.
Latvia was also represented in the medal winners of this year’s Baltic Women’s Volleyball League. In the bronze medal game JELGAVA/LU claimed the derby with ZELTALEJA by 3:1 (25-27, 25-21, 25-9, 25-13).
