Today the hosts of Slovenia caused a real sensation in Nova Gorica as they stormed to a 3:0 victory (25-20, 25-21, 26-24) over reigning European champions Russia as they are attempting to make it to this year’s FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship to further cement their rise to the international elite.

Earlier in the afternoon, Germany claimed the opening match of the second round qualification tournament – Pool H for this year’s FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship as they cruised to a 3:0 victory over the young ‘Red Dragons’ of Belgium (25-18, 25-17, 25-21).

Though the final score may suggest the game was one-sided, in reality it was a very intense match packed with great actions.

World Championship with the participation of 16 teams from all continental areas will be held in Mexico from 11 to 20 September. Tours in Mexico are guaranteed to get the winners of the two groups of the second round of the European selection.

Then five more passes will be distributed world ranking teams U-21. And here Russia ranked first. Therefore, whatever the outcome of the tournament in Slovenia, the Russian youth team must fly at the World Cup-2015.
