Poland

Poland

From the beginning Poland played on high level. After a great block of Andrzej Wrona the hosts took the lead of 9-4 and the Russian coach called time out. The game wasn’t quite interesting as everybody expected.

Poland led 18-12 when Voronkow asked for the second time out. In that period of game Bartosz Kurek and Michal Kubiak were unstoppable. Poland ended the first set 25-16.

After little bit close game at the beginning of the second set (9-7), Poland again took the game in its hands. Kurek’s strong attack brought 19-13 to Poland and ace of Mateusz Mika 20-13. That was the end of the set, Poland led 2-0 and Kubiak closed the second set with a cross hit 25-17.

The third set started quite tight. Teams played point by point until 5-5 and then Poland  won three points in a row for 8-5. Fantastic young player Mateusz Bieniek won three points in a row, first from the middle and than two aces for 14-10.

Kurek hits block out for 20-16 and 23-19. In that time everything was quite clear. Poland  finished this set with the block 25-20.
