SEAG W: Indonesia sweeps away Philippine debutants, Vietnam superb

Indonesia, bronze medalist from the 2013 Southeast Asian Games, started its campaign at the 28th edition of the tournament with a smooth win over the Philippines – 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-14) at the “OCBC Arena” in Singapore.

The match between two rivals was played in Pool B and the most efficient player in the winning team was Aprilia Manganang with 13 points while Maya Kurnia Indri Sari added 11.

In the Philippines, who participated at the Southeast Asian Games for the first time in their history, Alyssa Valdez had 15 points and was the only player in the losing team with double digits.

In other Pool B clash, the Vietnamese team (current vice-champions) defeated Malaysia, as it was expected. It was a persuasive straight-set triumph.

The match of Pool A (consists of 3 teams) is scheduled for June 11.
