EG W: Turkey stuns Italy, Bulgaria demonstrates force vs. Russia

The action of a second day at the 2015 European Games in Baku (Azerbaijan) began in emphatic fashion as Turkey overwhelmed Italy with a clear triumph in Pool A – 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-17).

The Turkish side imposed a stunning superiority over an Italian squad that was unable to offer alternatives to its rivals’ excellence, especially in the second set.

Gözde Yılmaz scored 15 for Turkey, while Anastasia Guerra had 13 points in Italy.

Bulgaria initiated today’s matches in Pool B with a convincing win in straight sets over Russia 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-22).

After their bitter debut in the tournament, both squads focused on leaving their respective defeats behind, but only Bulgaria was able to savour the joy of experiencing the first triumph in the competition.

The Bulgarian women presented an outstanding demonstration of efficiency that took Russia by surprise which was mostly visible in the initial set.

Hristina Ruseva collected 18 points on her account in the winning team. On the other side, Daria Isaeva scored 11.
