Russia had an opener in which it confirmed a candidacy to dominate Pool B with a easy second victory in the competition, in three sets against Belgium – 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-23).
Ilya Vlasov had 12 points for Russia while Jolan Cox scored 10 in Belgium.
In the same pool, Germany and Bulgaria also noted wins.
Germany and Slovakia entered in a duel with one victory each on their account. Slovakia could not find a response to variety of offensive plays from the opponent – 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-23).
German captain Jochen Schöps took 17 points. Marcel Lux collected 8 in Slovakia.
Another shocking news for Italy. Bulgaria caused the second loss to one of the main candidates for a medal, in four sets with 24 from Nikolay Nikolov! Iacopo Massari scored 18 in Italy. Check out the result of the 3rd set. It was a real battle!
