In the first of two friendly games in Edmonton called the “Rally for Rio” between the host Canada and Brazil, the South American side needed four sets to beat the opponent 3-1 (23-25, 25-10, 25-16, 25-19).

After losing a balanced first set, Brazil didn’t have too much difficulties in rest of the game.

Canadians, who are preparing for the World Cup in Japan, played poor defense, allowing too many balls to drop after Brazilian attacks. Gavin Schmitt was almost alone in pouring points over Brazilian net.

Brazil’s serve highlighted the game with efficient Renan Buiatti and Maurício Borges in the attack.

The second match between the two teams will be played tonight.
