BUL vs. NED
Bulgaria and Netherlands had secured top two spots in the Pool A already before this clash, so the only question was – Who will claim the top spot and go directly to the quarterfinals?
The answer is – Bulgaria!!!
The co-hosts of the tournament outplayed Netherlands in thrilling finish. Bulgaria was the first to reach the match point at 14:13 and had a counter-attack to finish the game, but the visitors made a great block and stayed alive – 14:14. In the following point, The Netherlands had the counter-attack, but this time the Bulgarian block was at the right place and brought another match point for the home side – 15:14.
Bulgaria missed that one as well – 15:15, but they got the third match point at 16:15… It was the lucky one! Vladimir Nikolov converted a counter-attack into a point with a great spike – 17:15.
