Sichuan vs. Tianjin
Bayi defeated Division 1 newcomers Yunnan University Volleyball Club 3-1 (25-12, 23-25, 25-17, 25-22) in Pool 1.
Bayi had Wang Yunlu with 16 points and Liu Yanhan with 15. Chen Yina was the best scorer in Yunnan with 17 points while American Lynn Bergsma had 14.
One of two tiebreakers in opening round of Chinese championship was between hosts Beijing BAIC Motors and Liaoning Dalian Jinzhou. The visitors can celebrate on their way back home as they won 3-2 (15-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 15-9). It was another Pool 1 game.
Yan Ni was unstoppable with 22 points in the winning team while Azerbaijani Jana Matiašovská-Ağayeva led Beijing’s scorers with 22.
Another tiebreaker happened in Pool 2 where Jiangsu ECE Zhongtian Steel defeated Shanghai Guohua Life 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 26-28, 15-10) while in the same pool, Fujian Yango Xia’men Ximengbao simply had to beat Shandong Laishan Bank 3-1 (15-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-21) as American Nicole Fawcett scored 26 points. Song Meili scored 18 for Shandong.
Australian Rachel Rourke destroyed Bohai Bank Tianjin with 31 points in the win of Sichuan University.
