Surabaya prevailed in two of three clashes against Jakarta BNI in regular season but they were not favorites in the finals as the Final Four was held in Indonesian capital.
Nevertheless, the team coached by Djanu Tjahyono and in which Cuban players Reidel Toiran ’Chino’ and Pedro López Fernández dominate, claimed their fifth national title and dethroned Jakarta Electric PLN. The Brazilian Felipe Grah and his teammates will have to settle for the silver medal.

In the Women’s finals, Jakarta Electric PLN defended the trophy by beating Jakarta Pertamina Energi in a thriller 3-2 (25-20, 25-18, 17-25, 19-25, 15-8). Thus, the Chinese duo Wang Yimei – Zhang Lei outclassed Brazilian Marianne Steinbrecher ’Mari’ and American Logan Tom on the other side.
