The defending champions USA dominated Pool B with four straight-set wins, finishing the last round with style, 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-23) victory over Argentina. Madison Kingdon was the offensive leader for the American side with 14 points.
Hosts Dominican Republic subdued Puerto Rico in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-23) in a decisive match between the two undefeated teams in Pool A. A full house crowd of about 6,000 spectators watched the home team advancing directly to semifinals.
Brayelin Martínez carried most of the offensive load of the winners with 17 points. Karina Ocasio and Stephanie Enright had 15 points each for Puerto Rico.
In semis, USA await winners of Puerto Rico – Argentina clash while Dominicans will face the better from the game between Cuba and Canada.
