The Orange squad suffered a defeat in the bronze medal match against USA, so they missed a big chance to win the 1st ever Olympic medal for Dutch women’s volleyball. Nevertheless, head coach Giovanni Guidetti praised his team after the end of the match.
“I am extremely proud of what we have achieved all together. We have experienced an exceptional Olympic tournament and I want to thank everyone for this achievement. Maybe it was just a bit too early for us to win a medal here, but I am convinced that this team has a great future and that the Netherlands will most certainly play at the next World Championship and at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.”
