VakifBank
The Turkish powerhouse now has the whole collection of medals from the FIVB Club World Championship! After winning the silver in 2011 and gold in 2013, VakifBank Istanbul clinched the bronze at the 2016 Club World Championship edition.
It looked like the Turkish players accepted that defeat from the semifinals much better than the Swiss side. VakifBank were simply better than Volero today, so they managed to win the first award in the 2016/17 season.
On the other side, Volero Zurich had huge hopes for this tournament, however it seems that they could not recover from that painful defeat in the semifinals. Therefore, the Purple team failed to repeat the score from the last year when they finished the FIVB Club World Championship at the 3rd spot.
