POL M: Warszawa survive major scare from Katowice – Nowakowski shines in block

Projekt Warszawa defeated GKS Katowice in the tie-break of Round 11’s duel of the 2021/22 Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship.

The favored Warszawa had major problems with Katowice in Round 11 of the 2021/22 PlusLiga. Andrea Anastasi’s team was trailing 1-2 in sets, but managed to turn the tide of the game around and celebrate the win after the tie-break. Michał Superlak highlighted Warszawa with 27 points, while Piotr Nowakowski made as many as eight of the team’s 21 blocks. The club from the Polish capital achieved their fourth consecutive victory in PlusLiga, firming themselves in third place in the standings.

Sweeping Ślepsk Malow Suwałki, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów broke their three-game losing streak and moved up from the ninth to the sixth position in the standings.
