Hubert Jerzy Wagner Memorial: Slovenia and Italy Begin with Dominant Wins

The 20th edition of the Hubert Jerzy Wagner Memorial kicked off in Krakow’s TAURON Arena, set to witness a record-breaking crowd over its three-day run. This marks the eighth occasion Krakow has hosted this esteemed event, with seven of those being consecutive.

On the opening day, the tournament saw a staggering 15,000 spectators witness Slovenia’s 3-0 sweep of Poland.

Italy followed suit with a decisive 3-0 win against France. Coach Ferdinando De Giorgi remained loyal to his VNL Finals lineup throughout the match.

Italy and France were neck and neck initially, with the first set seeing both teams battle fiercely. However, Italy edged ahead with a 29-27 win, maintained their momentum in the second set (25-21), and concluded their dominance with a 25-20 third set victory.
