In a recent announcement, PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów has confirmed the appointment of Gheorghe Cretu as the new head coach of their senior volleyball team, succeeding Italian expert Andrea Gardini. Cretu, renowned for his successful tenure in Polish volleyball, including a championship and European titles with other clubs, is tasked with reviving Skra Bełchatów’s fortunes, aiming to return the team to the top of Poland’s PlusLiga.

Over the last 18 months under Gardini, Skra Bełchatów faced challenges, finishing ninth in the 2023/2024 PlusLiga season, prompting this significant change in leadership. Club President Wiesław Deryło expressed optimism about Cretu’s capabilities in leading the team back to its former glory, emphasizing his extensive experience and influential coaching style.
