Founded in 1994, ZAKSA has made a lasting impact on both Polish and global volleyball, with three Champions League titles and nine Polish championships to their name.

This season brings significant changes, with 11 players and head coach Adam Swaczyna leaving the team. Andrea Giani, fresh off an Olympic victory, steps in as head coach. Key players like Bartosz Kurek, Marcin Janusz, and David Smith will lead the squad, supported by Erik Shoji.

The upcoming match will serve as the final test before the PlusLiga season begins this weekend. ZAKSA faces PGE Projekt Warszawa, while Stal Nysa will meet Asseco Resovia Rzeszów. Last season, ZAKSA finished 10th in the league, while Stal Nysa secured 7th place.

The 2024/2025 PlusLiga volleyball season is scheduled to kick off on September 13, with 16 teams competing for the championship. Among them is a newly promoted team, Nowak-Mosty MKS Będzin, joining the league after replacing Enea Czarni Radom. Jastrzębski Węgiel, the reigning champions, will defend their title this season.

The regular season will run from mid-September until March 23, featuring 240 matches across 30 rounds. The top eight teams will then advance to the playoffs, set to begin at the end of March and conclude by May 13.

One of the major changes this season is that three teams will face relegation, making the competition for survival even more intense. Alongside Nowak-Mosty MKS Będzin, Cuprum Stilon Gorzów will also join the league, adding a fresh element to the competition.
