POL M: Lublin and Resovia Take Wins in PlusLiga Quarterfinals

The PlusLiga playoffs opened with dominant performances as Bogdanka LUK Lublin and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów secured straight-set victories to move within one win of the semifinals.

Defending champions Bogdanka LUK Lublin defeated PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów 3–0 (25:23, 25:22, 25:22) in a tightly contested encounter. Despite the scoreline, each set remained balanced deep into the closing stages, where Lublin’s composure proved decisive.

Wilfredo Leon led the scoring for the hosts with 13 points, supported by Hilir Henno (12) and both Mateusz Malinowski and Fynnian McCarthy with 10 each. For Skra, Alan Souza matched Leon’s total with 13 points, while Bartłomiej Lemański added 12 and Daniel Chitigoi contributed 10. Setter Marcin Komenda was named MVP for orchestrating Lublin’s efficient offense.

In another quarterfinal clash, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów comfortably overcame Indykpol AZS Olsztyn 3–0 (25:18, 25:19, 25:20). The home side controlled the match with superior attacking efficiency, a stronger block (14–6), and more effective serving (8–6), while also committing significantly fewer errors.

French outside hitter Yacine Louati delivered a standout performance with 18 points and earned MVP honors. His display included six aces and four blocks, underlining Resovia’s dominance. Karol Butryn added 13 points, while Olsztyn’s top scorer Moritz Karlitzek finished with nine.

The PlusLiga quarterfinals are played in a best-of-three format, with the second matches scheduled for April 4 in Bełchatów and Olsztyn, respectively.

In match played day earlier, PGE Projekt Warszawa also opened their playoff campaign with a convincing 3–0 win over JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel (25:21, 25:22, 25:19).
