POL W: ŁKS Stun Champions in Łódź Derby

ŁKS Commercecon Łódź secured their first victory of the 2026/27 TAURON Liga season with a 3-1 win over reigning Polish champions PGE Budowlani Łódź. Magdalena Jurczyk was named MVP after an impressive performance in front of 3,000 spectators at Sport Arena.

The visitors dominated the opening two sets, with setter Karla Antunović orchestrating an effective attack led by Oleksandra Milenko and Suvi Kokkonen. ŁKS recorded 57% attacking success in the second set, compared with Budowlani’s 33%, establishing a comfortable two-set advantage.

Budowlani responded strongly in the third set following some adjustments by coach Maciej Biernat. Aleksandra Kazała and Iuna Zadorojnai strengthened the hosts’ lineup, while Saša Planinšec contributed important blocks as the defending champions raced ahead 19-7 before taking the set 25-14.

However, ŁKS regained control in the fourth set after the teams remained level at 14-14. Anna Obiała delivered four scoring blocks in the final set, supported by two from Jurczyk, helping the visitors close out the contest.

Milenko led ŁKS with 16 points, including two service aces and a 47% attacking success rate. Jurczyk added 11 points, including three blocks, to secure the MVP award.

Meanwhile, Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz celebrated their first win of the season, defeating ITA TOOLS Stal Mielec 3-0. After taking a competitive opening set 25-22, the visitors dominated the second 25-14 before overcoming a tighter challenge in the third to complete the sweep 25-23.
