Argentina
Argentina defeated four-time Olympic champions and current World Cup winners Russia in the second weekend of Pool D1, 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 28-26) in Łódź, Poland.
It was truly a great victory of Argentina, first ever over Russia in 31 years, which until yesterday had four defeats and no win. But, the scenario suddenly changed. Firstly, Argentina downed European champions and World League title holders France. And today, the same outcome was against Russia.
Nicolás Bruno and Cristián Poglajen led Argentina with 13 points each. Egor Kliuka had 10 in Russia.
Belgium prevailed over Australia in Pool E1 clash in Rome, Italy, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-17). François Lecat collected amazing 24 points in a 3-set game for Belgium! On the other side, Paul Carroll and Jordan Richards both noted 10.
