He was 24 years old when on September 16th 2005 was killed in a car accident on a highway in Austria. It had been a successful season in the Italian team Padova and the Polish national volleyball team and he was at the threshold of a great volleyball career. In that moment he signed for Lube Banca Macerata.
After this tragic incident each year is held a memorial tournament in his honor. This year’s memorial will be held in Murowana Goslina on 17-18 October. Apart from AZS Czestochowa, Lotos Trefl Gdańsk, BYDGOSZCZ and Japanese JT Thunders Hiroshima with Bartosz Kurek will participate at the tournement.
