Dynamo Moscow defeated Zenit Saint Petersburg in a five-set battle to take the opening match of their Super League semi-final series.
Dynamo rebounded after losing the first set, finding rhythm in attack with Denis Bogdan leading the offense (70% in attack). Zenit pushed the match to a tie-break after edging a tight fourth set, but Dynamo took control early in the decider behind strong serving from Maksim Sapozhkov.
Despite 33 points from Uladzislau Babkevich, who attacked at 52%, Zenit came up short as Dynamo took the series lead. Maksim Sapozhkov led Dynamo with 20 points.
Result: Dynamo Moscow beat Zenit Saint Petersburg 3–2 (17–25, 25–19, 25–22, 26–28, 15–13).
