Some time ago, Alexander Volkov publically expressed his desire to play as receiver. A 210 cm tall Russian middle blocker wanted a new challenge in his volleyball career, so he was patiently waiting for his chance.
Finally, in the last round of the Russian Championship, Volkov played all 4 sets of the match between his Gazprom-Yugra and Dinamo Moscow at the position of receiver! Volkov had 33% in reception, while he scored 9 points along the way.
