“When I received this offer, I still played in Dinamo Moscow. I went to talk with the leadership of Dynamo Moscow. I asked them is there a chance to extend the contract. The answer was negative. That was a moment I decided to join St. Petersburg” – says Volkov and adds – “I heard that Zenit Kazan were very jealous of the idea of creating a new club in St. Petersburg. They are afraid that the budget will move from there to here, that many players will want to play here.”
