RUS M: Belogorie narrowly avoid embarrassment in Nizhnevartovsk, Grozer leads Lokomotiv to confident win

Belogorie-Belgorod

Belogorie-Belgorod

Under the command of a coach that conducted the preparations with the team this summer, Aleksandr Bogomolov (replaced the Romanian Gheorghe Creţu, a week ago) Belogorie continued their unbeaten run in Superliga, extending it to 10 games. They defeated the last-placed Yugra-Samotlor Nizhnevartovsk on the road in a highly intense game – 3-2 (19-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-15, 15-6) and kept breathing down the neck of the defending champions Zenit Kazan as they both now have 13-1 record but with Zenit having one point more than the rivals – 38 to 37. Konstantin Bakun made 22 points for Belogorie, who served 13 aces as a team, while Sergey Piraynen notched 16 points for Samotlor.

Lokomotiv Novosibirsk achieved a straight-set win against Dinamo-LO Leningradskaya Oblast with 16 points from the German opposite Georg Grozer. That’s exactly how much Anton Botin scored on the other side. Lokomotiv extended their winning streak in Superliga to 5 games.
