The experienced setter stepped away from international competition following the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Serbia was eliminated in the quarterfinals. Less than a year later, the 40-year-old appears ready to extend her distinguished national team career.

One of the most accomplished players in Serbian volleyball history, Ognjenović captained the national side during its most successful era, helping secure a world title in 2018, two European championships, and Olympic silver and bronze medals.

Currently playing for Italian club Savino Del Bene Scandicci, Ognjenović remains active at the highest level of the sport and continues to compete alongside some of the world’s top players.

Her potential return comes as Serbia blends experienced leaders with a talented new generation of athletes already making an impact at leading European clubs. Ognjenović’s presence could provide a significant boost as the team prepares for another international campaign.

The veteran’s inclusion in the Nations League squad signals that her international journey may not be over just yet, offering the possibility of a final chapter to one of Serbia’s most celebrated volleyball careers.
