On the third day of the XXXV Women’s South American Championship held at the Geraldão Coliseum in Recife, Colombia and Argentina celebrated triumphs.
Colombia squared off against Peru in the day’s opening match. Initially, the Colombians were caught off-guard as they dropped the first set to the Peruvians. However, they regrouped and clinched a 3-1 victory with set scores of 20-25, 25-17, 25-15, and 25-20. Amanda Coneo shone for Colombia, amassing 18 points. On the other hand, Maria Paola Rodriguez was the top scorer for the Peruvian side with 13 points.
Looking ahead, Colombia is set to challenge Argentina, while Peru prepares to take on Brazil.
In the subsequent match, Argentina locked horns with Chile. The intense duel saw closely contested rallies in the initial sets. However, Argentina secured victory in straight sets 25-23, 25-23, 25-15. Bianca Cugno was in the spotlight for Argentina, scoring an impressive 23 points, whereas Beatriz Novoa led the Chilean side with 13 points.
