SAC W: South American Trio Seal 2027 World Berths

Argentina, Brazil and Colombia secured South America’s three places at the 2027 Women’s Volleyball World Championship after a decisive penultimate day of qualifying at Maracanãzinho.

Argentina maintained unbeaten run with a straight-sets victory over Venezuela, led by Bianca Cugno’s 15 points.

Hosts Brazil followed with a 3-0 win over Chile. After cruising through the opening set, Brazil was pushed hard in the second before prevailing 30-28 and closing out the match comfortably. Bergman led the Brazilian scoring with 13 points.

Colombia completed the list of World Championship qualifiers by defeating Peru in straight sets. Ana Karina Olaya paced the Colombian attack with 14 points as her team secured third place in the standings.

The tournament concludes with Brazil facing Argentina in a high-profile final. The winner will claim direct qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
