TUR M: Fenerbahçe upset Maliye Piyango in Game 1 of playoff quarterfinals

Fenerbahçe was the only side to make an upset in Game 1 of the 2018/18 Turkish Men’s Volleyball Championship playoff quarterfinals.

The fifth seed Fenerbahçe prevailed over No.4 Maliye Piyango in a highly dramatic encounter at home by a 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 18-25, 16-14) and now need one more win to reach the semifinals in the 2018-2019 Efeler Ligi. The Cuban Salvador Hidalgo Oliva was on top level today with 25 points. Belgian Kevin Klinkenberg made 73% positive reception. Frenchman Jhon Wendt scored 23 for Maliye.

Led by the Slovenian Alen Šket (16 points), the top seed Halkbank achieved a comfortable victory over No.8 Ziraat Bankası.

The second seed Arkas Spor needed four sets to break the resistance of No.7 Tokat Belediye Plevne, while the third seed Galatasaray cruised to a straight-set victory against No.6 İstanbul BBSK.

(7) Tokat Belediye Plevne – (2) Arkas Spor 1-3 (25-15, 21-25, 15-25, 12-25)

(6) İstanbul BBSK – (3) Galatasaray 0-3 (15-25, 21-25, 15-25)

(5) Fenerbahçe – (4) Maliye Piyango 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 18-25, 16-14)

(8) Ziraat Bankası – (1) Halkbank 0-3 (21-25, 16-25, 19-25)
