Galatasaray defeated THY in Round 8 of the 2019/20 Vestel Venus Sultanlar Ligi regular season but lost one point: 3-2 (25-17, 24-26, 25-17, 21-25, 15-12). The fact that Galatasaray libero Gizem Karadayı was red-carded in the tie-break (and red cards are rare in the women’s volleyball) is the best indicator of how the match was intense. Gizem had 85% reception (20 digs, 40% excellent). Ukrainian Olesia Rykhliuk poured in 30 points for the winning team, while Aslı Kalaç made 5 kill blocks. As for THY, the Czech Aneta Havlíčková scored 25 points. Galatasaray are third-placed on the table with 7-1 and 20 points.
By beating PTT on the road with 3-0, Eczacıbaşı VitrA continued their leadership over Sultanlar Ligi with 8-0 and 23 points. VakıfBank wrote down the third win in a row to come just behind Eczacıbaşı in the charts with 7-1 and 21 points.
