As Turkish media reported, the country’s women’s top division club Beşiktaş hasn’t done any work in composing the roster for the next season even though they avoided relegation to the lower rank due to the premature end of the season caused by the pandemic of COVID-19.
Media are sure that this is a clear sign that the Istanbul side won’t be competing in the 2020/21 Vestel Venus Sultanlar Ligi. The one-time Turkish Championship winners had problems last season, too, losing all the players from the roster at one moment due to economic difficulties. So, Beşiktaş continued playing with the players from their youth team.
A year ago, the men’s team of Beşiktaş shut down despite securing a place in the top division after being the runners-up in the 2018/19 second division.
