Halkbank recorded the 7th win in a row in the 2020/21 Turkish Men’s AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi regular season. Led by Cuban Fernando Hernández (26 points), they beat İnegöl Bld. on the road by a 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 25-22) in Round 26 and remained 5th in the charts. More importantly for the Ankara-based club, it escaped 6th placed Spor Toto to +10 and now can focus all its efforts in fighting for a place in the top 4 – the last place that secures playoff participation.
Halkbank couldn’t go up in the charts given that Arkas Spor defeated Spor Toto in the big match in 4 sets, annulling the great game of Brazilian Wallace Souza (29 points) and hold position No.4. Efe Mandıracı top-scored Arkas with 22 points.
With 4th win in a row (3-0 vs Afyon Bld. Yüntaş), the leaders Fenerbahçe HDI Sigorta came to 6 points ahead of the closest pursuers, Ziraat Bankkart (two game less played), Galatasaray HDI Sigorta, and Arkas Spor.
