The sixth round of the SMS Grup Efeler Ligi came to an exciting close today, highlighted by a high-intensity derby where Galatasaray HDI Sigorta defeated Fenerbahçe Medicana 3-2 in a nail-biting match.
Played at Burhan Felek Vestel Volleyball Hall, the clash delivered five competitive sets with scores of 25-22, 22-25, 21-25, 25-17, 16-18. Fenerbahçe opened the match strong by taking the first set, but Galatasaray responded with back-to-back wins. Although Fenerbahçe forced a decisive tie-break with a dominant fourth set, Galatasaray ultimately held control in the final points to secure the victory.
Fenerbahçe’s top scorer was Adis Lagumdzija with 24 points, followed by Yiğit Gülmezoğlu with 17 and Earvin Ngapeth with 15. For Galatasaray, Jean Patry led with 21 points, while Thomas Jaeschke and Stephen Maar contributed 20 points each.
