SMS Grup Efeler Ligi’s eighth round came to a close with victories of Halkbank and Ziraat Bankkart, two of the league’s top contenders.
Halkbank delivered a confident 3-0 win over Fenerbahçe Medicana at the TVF Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall. They claimed the sets 25-20, 26-24 and 25-16. Yoandy Leal and Tsvetan Sokolov were Halkbank’s top scorers with 13 points each, while the hosts’ best, and the match’s overall top scorer, was Yiğit Gülmezoğlu with 14 points.
In Ankara, Ziraat Bankkart outlasted Galatasaray HDI Sigorta in a thrilling five-set showdown. Despite strong scoring from Galatasaray’s Jean Patry (23 pts) and Thomas Jaeschke (17 pts), Ziraat held firm in the decisive tie-break, taking the match 15-11 to seal a 3-2 victory. Nimir Abdelaziz led Ziraat and was the match top socre with 34 points.
In other matches across the league, İstanbul Gençlik, Gebze Belediyespor, Kuşgöz İzmir Vinç Akkuş and Bursa BBSK added wins to their records.
