TUR W: Fenerbahçe win battle for Kim – Korean star extends contract!

According to the Turkish media, Fenerbahçe Grundig İstanbul won the battle over several major clubs for Korean superstar Kim Yeon-Koung.

Allegedly, Fenerbahçe’s domestic rivals VakıfBank and several clubs in China showed serious interest in Kim, but as „Voleybolun Sesi“ published, Korean receiver/outside hitter decided to stay in the current team for the sixth consecutive season. The contract renewal is expected to be signed in the next few days.

Since 2011, Kim has won five trophies with Fenerbahçe, including the one in the CEV Champions League (2012), and eight individual awards (such as the Champions League MVP in 2012).

That may be the reason why Fenerbahce fell short of Thaisa. There should be no money left to hire any other top players. Vakifbank is way better in that. They can hire Hill, Thing and Rasic all together with a smaller budget.
