Slovenia – Belgium

In today’s duel for the seventh place, Slovenia won against Belgium in straight sets (27-25, 25-18, 27-25). Slovenian opposite Iza Mlakar topped the scorers chart with 18 points, including two block kills.

Both teams experienced many ups and downs in the first period, but played with heart and determination. Slovenia kept the upper hand at the end of the opening set (27-25). The story of the match didn’t change in the second set. Five aces helped the Slovenian side to book a merited 2:0 set lead (25-18). However, there was still not much to separate the two squads in the third set. Belgium led 16-15 at the second technical time-out, but couldn’t pull through. The promising Slovenian talents showed strong nerves at the end of today’s first duel in Kislali Hall, taking the third set in extremis (27-25) and the match 3:0.
