In the opening match of the Pool C in Kaliningrad, Turkey defeated Belgium after only 3 sets! Still, it was far from a walk in the park for the Turkish squad, especially in the third set in which they made a big comeback in the final moments.
Belgium had two set points to stay alive in this game (24:22), however Turkey scored 4 consecutive points and closed the match by 26:24, 3-0.
The best player of the game was, without any doubt, Polen Uslupehlivan who scored 20 points for the winning side.
