This is a true volleyball miracle! Galatasaray have managed to eliminate VakifBank from the championship race, so the girls in red & yellow jerseys will play for the title!

After winning the 1st leg by 3-0 at home court, Galatasaray needed two sets in the rematch to book their ticket for the Finals. And that is exactly what they did this Wednesday evening! Galatasaray won the opening two sets of the 2nd leg and qualified for the Finals, despite losing the match later on by 3-2.

“I did not believe in miracles, but this result can be called a volleyball miracle. We defeated a team which is among favorites to win the CEV Champions League. We are very happy because of this success, especially because it means that we will play in the CEV Champions League in the next season,” said Galatasaray head coach Ataman Güneyligi.

On the other side, VakifBank have stayed without one more domestic trophy. This is definitely a huge blow for the squad coached by Giovanni Guidetti, but they will try to save the season by winning the 2016/17 CEV Champions League.
