Halkbank won their first trophy this season as they defeated Maliye Piyango in the national Cup final at a neutral ground in the city of Şanlıurfa by a 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 25-16, 21-25, 15-11).

Maliye Piyango’s advancement to the final of the tournament was a surprise by itself as they eliminated one of the favorites to win the gold medal Arkas Spor in the quarterfinals and İnegöl Belediyesi in the semis. Two more teams with big odds to lift the trophy, Ziraat Bankası and Fenerbahçe, also ended their journey in the quarterfinals.

As for Halkbank, they snatched national Cup for the seventh time in the club history.

The Cuban Fernando Hernández put down 25 points for the winning side, while Burutay Subaşı added 22 points. The Estonian Oliver Venno topped Maliye Piyango with 16 points.
