Another major stunner occurred in the first round of the playoffs in the Turkish men’s volleyball championship 2017-2018 Efeler Ligi.

No.6 Galatasaray HDİ Sigorta made it to the playoff semifinals of the Efeler Ligi as they won quarterfinal series against Istanbul city rivals and also third-seed Fenerbahçe by a 2-1! Game 3 ended with a 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22).

An import from Uganda, Daudi Okello, delivered 21 points (4 kill blocks) for the winning side, while Emin Gök served 6 aces. The veteran libero Can Ayvazoğlu made 73% reception (22 digs, 2 errors, 59% excellent). As for Fenerbahçe, Metin Toy scored 18 points. The Ukrainian Iurii Gladyr and Resul Tekeli made 4 kill blocks apiece.

İstanbul BBSK was the other team who kicked out a higher seed side from the playoffs.
