CL M: Moment that decided big match: Belogorie coach gets red card, Perugia fans in ecstasy (VIDEO)

Perugia vs. Belogorie

Italian runners-up won the match in the tie-break but Russian side is furious with referees due to one of their decisions that occurred in the finish of this set. The umpire from Sweden Stefan Bernström showed red card to Belogorie coach Aleksandr Kosarev, preceded by two consecutive yellow cards, at 13-12 for Perugia. It meant that Italian team got a point for 14-12. A match point.

Belogorie website accused a referee for spoiling the match with this decision which, according to them, was totally unnecessary.

What happened? Belogorie middle blocker Artem Smolyar made a service error, sending a ball out of bounds, which was confirmed by a video-check. Belogorie coach Kosarev complained and got two yellow cards in a row, which equals red card. Nevertheless, Belogorie website claim Smolyar already admitted sending the ball out of bounds, so the red card should not been showed by the Swedish referee. Big question remain – Observing previous developments, why did Kosarev protest?

Here is a video of the moment when Kosarev got red card and a reaction of one of his players, Taras Khtey (number 4), who was looking into direction of Kosarev and showed clear dissatisfaction for his behavior…
