The Bulgarian titleholders were on the verge to be eliminated by the Russian side Enisey Krasnoyarsk on the road in the 2nd leg as they trailed 2-0 in sets. But they won the next four, including the Golden Set, to qualify for the first-ever pool stage of the Champions League. It was definitely one of the biggest comebacks in the history of the tournament.

A huge celebration of Maritza players was replaced with the smiles and the hugs of their fans, hundreds of them, upon the team’s arrival at the club headquarters in the city of Plovdiv. According to the media in Bulgaria, some of the supporters who welcomed their heroines even cried with joy.
